Yahoo Sponsored Search Marketing: Tips For Getting Started With Search Engine Marketing

If you are at the point where you are ready to begin paid search engine marketing to either promote your own website or promote other affiliate products directly, one of the best places to get started with this is the search engine Yahoo.
This can be a much better place to start than Google, because the bidding system and ad placement on Google can be much more complicated, whereas the Yahoo sponsored search system is fairly straightforward and simple to use. The tips in this article can help you get a profitable start in search engine marketing by learning how to use the pay-per-click advertising system on Yahoo.
Once you get signed up for your first sponsored search account at Yahoo, you will see that there are three different membership levels which are premier, gold, and platinum. The premier membership is the standard account level, although when you first sign up you are entitled to have access to a gold level account membership for the first 90 days, which will also give you access to certain benefits that can help you get your search campaign started right away. Some of the intitial gold level benefits that you are entitled to are priority telephone and email service, as well as faster review of your ad listings so that they can become active faster.
It is a good idea to have an approximate estimation of how much money you will be spending on your ad budget, because one of the options that you have when signing up for a new account is to pay a $199 fee for something called the “fast track” program, in which a Yahoo representative will help you out with things such as picking the right keywords and writing your first ads. Depending on your budget and your own personal circumstances, this may be an option that you are interested in or you may wish to use the self-serve option which does not require any extra fees. Since all of your ads will need to be approved anyway, selecting the fast track option can allow you to get your ads approved and running on the search engine right away.
Many online business owners may choose to take the self-serve approach, in which case you will need to enter your own keyword list and form your own text ads that promote your links or website. There are a variety of free keyword tools that you can use to create a list of relevant keywords related to whatever you are promoting, so it can be a good idea to have a list of around 100 good keywords that you can use to get started. The next step is to create at least one text ad that will be displayed directly in the search engine once it is approved, and you may choose to create multiple ads for different keywords or run the same ad for different keywords.
Once you have created your first ad, it is time to select how much money you are willing to bid on each keyword. This is the step where pay-per-click marketing can get complicated, but the bidding system used by Google is much more complicated than Yahoo, which is why this is the best option for beginners.
You will need to select a maximum bid amount that you are willing to pay each time a search engine user clicks on your ad, and the amount of your maximum bid will determine how high your ad position will show up on the search engine results page. Once you have taken these steps, you can complete your pay-per-click account sign up by entering your billing and contact information, at which point you will have a new Yahoo advertiser account set up with at least one ad waiting to be approved.
As you can see from the process outlined above, getting started with Yahoo search marketing is fairly easy and straightforward. The most difficult part of any pay-per-click campaign is managing your keyword list and the amount of money you are bidding on each keyword, and it is much easier to do this with Yahoo than with Google which is why Yahoo is the best choice when you are first getting started with search engine marketing. If you are interested in getting started with search engine marketing, the steps outlined in this article should help you get off to a great start using the Yahoo sponsored search system.
